Commonly called pink muhly grass, Muhlenbergia capillaris wows from late summer to early fall with a glittering haze of delicate pink to mauve flowers. The panicle flowers float in the wind in a cloud-like fashion.
Pink muhly grass is native to parts of the eastern and central United States. It provides a habitat and food for small birds in its native areas of open woods and along roadsides. It is deer-resistant and may self-sow, although not aggressively. It can be grown under black walnut trees.
Muhlenbergia capillaris pink muhly grass prefers full sun and coarse or sandy, medium to dryish soil.
